Weigh-In Information

Updated Thursday June 15, 2017 by James Lee Razorbacks.

Fairfax County Youth Football League (FCYFL) Age/Weight Matrix

Only youth boys and girls between the ages of 7 and 16 years old and who weigh at least 40 pounds may participate at FCYFL. Players shall play in the Age/Weight Division that they are eligible for.

Birthday Age Cutoff Dates: For ages 7 - 11 and 14 years old, the cutoff date is October 1st; ages 15 - 16, a 15 year old that turns 16 on or before December 31st will play at 155 lbs. No girl or boy shall be eligible to play if she/he turns 17 on or before December 31st.

Age Eligibility: Based on the age of a player as of October 1 of the current year. For example, a youth who becomes 10 years old on or before October 1st will play as a 10 year old. A youth who becomes 10 at any time after October 1st of the current year will play as a 9 year-old.

Age/Weight Eligibility: A player’s age and weight will be used to determine what team he/she will fall into on the Age/Weight Matrix (see Figure 1) once he/she has officially attended and completed an FCYFL Official Weigh-In. A 10 year old will play in the 90 LBS team if he/she weighs from 86 to 100 pounds. However, if his/her weight falls between 101 to 120 pounds, then he/she would end up on the 100 LBS team.

*Unlimited players are not eligible to play in a position that normally handles the ball unless they are at or below the listed maximum ball carrier weight (the weight limit listed next to "Unlimited/" on the chart below). Anklebiters may not weigh more than 70lbs to run the ball. Positions excluded for unlimited players exceeding the maximum ball carrier limit include all offensive backfield positions, all eligible receivers and tight end positions, and any position not on the first line of a special teams formation. Exceptions include the offensive positions of center, punter, and placekicker.
